Check this out, you'll love it (if hacks can be loved):
"Testing build with IE9 linear-gradient support"
http://css3pie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=933

With CSS3PIE, you use the -pie syntax and don't mix it with filter commands. If you use it properly like this, IE9 should display gradients & rounded corners just fine in the upcoming version.

I had a look at CSS3pie. This looks like a really useful resource. One thing I thought I should mention was that the old IE7/8 filter hack for gradient support causes a glitch in IE9 if you are using rounded corners. I'll maybe write a blog post on it. Basically anyone who used this hack will need to remove it if they want to support IE9 and they use rounded corners on the same element. Might be worth looking into if your site uses the filter hack for gradients in IE.

There seems to be about 20 variations of this problem Since there is no error message I guess it is simply harder to narrow down. I had previously tried 4 fixes that didnt work for me but others had commented saying it had done the job for them.

Thanks for this tip Bruno!

My problem is fixed so no need to attempt it but others searching for ways to resolve will be grateful.

I was having the same issue and getting a "your shopping cart is empty" message using Magento 1.4.1.1
I have tried all the above and other instructions posted in other sites, but what really worked for me was:

System>Index Management
Select All and Reindex Data

Hope it helps!

Yeah, Thanks Frosty. This problem had been annoying me for a while and none of the fixes worked except for your plugin. Well played.

Hi Paul. Your comment made me have another hunt for a fix this morning. I managed to fix it.

I tried everything on this post to no avail:
